Greenlots at IKEA
To promote emission-free and affordable transportation in Singapore, parking lots for parking & charging electronic motorcycles (called Greenlots) are now available in the carparks of both IKEA stores. Zeco scooters and IKEA Singapore launched Singapore’s first Greenlots for electric vehicles in March 2009. Simply look out for the Greenlots plug symbol at the IKEA carparks. About Zeco
Zeco scooters are manufactured by Germany’s E-max, a global leader in electric vehicle development and production. The scooter makes no sound, generates zero emmission and offers a high range of exceptional performance. The scooters can be charged at any electrical outlet, similar to the charging of a laptop or mobile phone. Each full charge takes 2½ to 5 hours which translates into 90km of usage. The top speed is 50kmh. Not only are the scooters a cleaner mode of transport, they are more economical to run too. Zeco’s model costs 60 cents for every 100km, compared to a petrol scooter, which costs up to 10 times more to run. Although these scooters have to keep off the expressways for now, the authorities will review the ban in a year’s time.
